We have received a number of enquiries from providers about the payment of Early Years DSG (Dedicated Schools Grant) and parental charges in the event of nursery closures or children off sick due to coronavirus.

We advise you to refer to your charging policies and parental contracts to establish the legal situation in respect of children being off sick or provider closure and to check with your insurer in the event of business disruption.

We are seeking further clarification in relation to the advice to self-isolate and are flagging issues in relation to nursery and childcare providers through our channels with the DfE.

The DfE announced yesterday that they will continue to pay early education entitlements even when providers are closed on the advice of Public Health England or if children are off due to sickness with coronavirus:

Free childcare offers to continue during coronavirus closures

Ofsted has announced that they are suspending all inspections in the current situation.

Please be reassured that we will keep you informed with updates as soon as we have them. You can see all of the latest advice and information at www.islingtoncs.org/coronavirus.
