Mini Mermaids and Young Tritons UK utilise running, jogging and walking as a teaching method for self-efficacy. They provide programmes for children aged 7-11 to increase self-confidence, self-esteem, gain a different perception of strength and increase participation in movement and physical activities. Programmes are for a group of 10-12 boys (Young Tritons) or girls (Mini Mermaids) for a 7-8 week period. Throughout the curriculum children will be involved with a variety of group discussions, journal work, games, movement and activities, culminating in a 5km challenge where children are encouraged to utilise everything they have learn throughout the sessions. Mini Mermaids and Young Tritons UK offer to run a programme within your school with a selected group of pupils at lunchtimes or as an after-school club. The coaches are also available to offer training to school staff to enable schools to run the clubs themselves and continue beyond the programme.
