11 by 11 is a commitment to make available 11 outstanding cultural experiences by Year 11 for all children and young people attending Islington schools.
The 11 by 11 Activity Menu is an extensive programme of free creative and cultural activities for local schools – from events and experiences like free concert tickets and backstage theatre tours, to school assembly talks about the creative industries.
The window for schools to apply for Spring term activities is between Monday 30 September and Monday 14 October.
Please see the Schools Guidance Sheet document below for more information about how the programme works.
Cultural Lead Teachers
We are asking all Islington schools to nominate a Cultural Lead Teacher to have oversight of the 11 by 11 initiative and the cultural activities taking place in their school. We will be offering Cultural Lead Teachers ongoing training, support and opportunities designed to maximise the impact of 11 by 11 in their school.
The next Cultural Lead Teachers Twilight will be held on Wednesday 3 October at the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain.

The Cultural Enrichment Team in partnership with Schools Improvement, Cubitt Artists, Company Three and Upward Bound, are designing a free programme of cross-curricular CPD opportunities and resources which will be on offer to all Islington teaching staff from September 2019. All CPD opportunities will be free to schools and will take place after the school day.

- What Islington teachers say about us:
“It was great to be in a workshop led by people who understand children and can pitch work to their level. It was a high energy workshop that kept the children's focus and gave new skills to both children and adults. I had great feedback from parents too. I would highly recommend this workshop. Well done October Gallery!”
KS1 Teacher, Gillespie Primary School (October Gallery)
“Thank you so much for your help with getting these trips arranged. Our students really benefit from getting out of school and enjoying cultural experiences so the 11 by 11 project is a wonderful initiative!”
KS1 Teacher, Richard Cloudesley School
“This was an excellent visit. The children loved the performance and listened intently. The children talked about what they had seen and related aspects of the story to their own experiences. Reception were talking about the animals on the bus and I am sure they will tell their parents all about the visit tonight.”
Cultural Lead Teacher, Yerbury Primary School (Little Angel Theatre)
“Leaders were really knowledgeable and professional. Ideas were interesting and the end product was a fantastic piece that all children were able to access. Would love to take part again!”
